VITEEE 2021: Know about registration, eligibility, syllabus

The Vellore Institute of Technology conducts its yearly admission through its entrance examination VITEEE. The VITEEE 2021 Registration has been active since November 30 , 2020 for admission in their 2021 courses.

Eligibility

  • Indian nationals, and NRIs and PIO/OCI candidates with 2 years of prior Indian schooling are eligible to sit for this exam.
  • Candidates must have successfully passed 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Examination held by the State Board, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE), or Intermediate or two-year pre-University examination held by any recognized board/University, or passed the high school certificate examination of the Cambridge University, or the International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva, or the General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) leve Candidates from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) are also eligible to sit for this exam.
  • For the UR category, a minimum 60% aggregate in their qualifying exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology is a must. For SC/ST/J&K, and North Eastern State candidates, there is a 10% relaxation.

Syllabus

The VITEEE 2021 Syllabus is divided into 5 sections – Physics, Chemistry, either Mathematics, or Biology, English, and Aptitude. Each section has several topics to be covered.

  • Physics – Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Optics, Semiconductor Devices and their Applications, Current Electricity, Electro-statistics, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Current, Magnetic Effects of Electric Current, Nuclear Physics, Dual Nature of Radiation and Atomic Physics, Properties of Matter.
  • Chemistry – Coordination Chemistry and Solid State Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Chemical Equilibrium and Chemical Kinetics, Alcohols and Ethers, Carboxylic Acids and their Derivatives, Electro-chemistry, Atomic Structure, Organic Nitrogen Compounds and Biomolecules, Isomerism in many Organic Compounds, p block elements, d and f – Block Elements, Carbonyl Compounds.
  • Biology – Plant Physiology, Genetics and Evolution, Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, Human Health and Diseases, Reproduction, Human Physiology, Biodiversity, Ecology and Environment, Biotechnology and its Applications, Taxonomy.
  • Mathematics – Analytical Geometry of Three Dimensions, Vector Algebra, Integral Calculus and its Applications, Probability Distributions, Differential Calculus, Matrices and their Applications, Differential Equations, Trigonometry and Complex Numbers, Analytical Geometry of Two Dimensions, Discrete Mathematics.
  • English – In English, the paper is multiple-choice and designed to test the comprehension of a short passage or lines of poems, English grammar, as well as pronunciation.
  • Aptitude – Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency, Syllogism, Number series, Coding and Decoding, Clocks, Calendars and Directions.

Exam Pattern

The VITEEE 2021 Syllabus is tested on a computer-based test that is 2 hours and 30 minutes long. There are 35 questions each asked in Physics and Chemistry, 40 questions in Biology or Mathematics, 5 questions in English, and 10 in aptitude. Each question, when correctly answered, fetches 1 mark, and there is no negative marking.

Registration Procedure

The form has to be filled and submitted before the deadline. This is followed by booking a slot. The test centre and time are allotted on a first come, first serve basis, depending on what slot candidates have booked. Once booked, slots cannot be canceled, and no request for change of venue or time will be entertained by the authorities. So all candidates are requested to be careful when registering and choosing a suitable exam slot for VITEEE 2021.
